Can it be?

Can it be that Kelsie will be turning 2 next month? I can not believe it nor can I believe that we will be welcoming a new little one in only a few short months. Our lives are getting more and more fun by the day (and busy too!) I'm anxious to see how Kelsie does as a big sister.

Speaking of Kelsie, she's probably changed a lot since I last wrote (I know, I know, it was way too long ago - sorry.) Probably the biggest change is how much she is talking, she adds words everyday and is starting to put more and more words together. The past two nights she said to her dad after her goodnight kiss "kiss mom" (paused for a kiss) and then said "hug too." It was pretty much one of the cutest things ever.

Another semi-new thing is counting, she likes to count. Okay, she does like to count but mostly her counting is just saying random numbers while pointing to objects. She can pretty consistently count to 4 though. We're also still working on letters and colors. She will finally say other colors than blue when you ask her what color something is, it's just not always the right color but we are making progress. Same with the letters, she likes to say lots of letters when she sees them, they just don't always match what she is looking at, or ever ;-)

Anything she can imitate she does and likewise anything she can do for herself, and even if she can't, she wants to. Take for instance trying to make her own oatmeal - and then of course she wants to clean up the mess herself too

Kelsie has hit quite the independent stage and I'm sure it will get even worse before it gets better. Some things are just humorous although often frustrating. The other night I was trying to put Kelsie to bed and she dropped her pillow and I made the mistake of picking it up for her much to her dismay. She then proceeded to put it back down exactly where it fell, stand up, and then bend over and pick it up herself. When I tried to hand her the cup off the counter she put it back on the counter so she could take it off herself.

My parents brought us some grapes from their garden and we decided to make jelly with them. First we had to skin all the grapes. Kelsie figured out what we were doing and joined right in.

A few pictures from the cystic fibrosis walk that we did in memory of my good friend Kelly - thanks again to all who donated!

Several weeks ago we also attempted a camping trip (in our backyard) which didn't go quite as planned. It all started off well.

As you can see I was starting to get tired

All Kelsie wanted to do was this, so after almost 2 hours we called it a night and came to sleep inside while Josh held down the fort.

Ahh . . . that's better

In fact, sleeping sounds like a great idea so I'm going to hit the sack. Hopefully I'll remember to get my camera out and take some more pictures and possibly even videos soon so you won't have to wait two months for another update.
