Jesus

Kelsie pulled this down from our drying rack the other morning with a dramatic "oooooo, pretty!" "make it mom?" she asked. "No," I responded. "Jesus make it?" I wasn't exactly sure how to respond so I didn't ;-)

Kelsie likes to pray to Jesus, usually thanking him for Mom, Dad, Karissa, and "white blankie." After prayers come songs and second only to "Twinkle, Twinkle" her favorite and most requested song is "Jesus Loves Me."

For the 12 days before Easter this year, we had an activity that we read a bible verse and opened an egg for each day that contained a small object related to the reading. Kelsie was a little young to grasp too much of it but I quickly learned that she was still paying attention. For several weeks/months following Easter when we would sing the second verse of Jesus loves me this was the scenario most nights "♪♪ Jesus loves me he who died ♪♪" at which point I would be stopped for Kelsie to say "died on cross, cock-a-doodle-doo." I didn't really understand her or the connection at the beginning but after a few nights figured out what she was saying and meant. In one of the eggs was a cross when we read about the crucifixion, and in another egg was a rooster when we read about Peter's denial and the cock crowing three times. She may not have it all figured out but she was definitely putting things together and knew who we were talking about.

Once when we were at my parents house Kelsie was pretending her baby doll was sick. While encouraging her pretending we asked if she could make her all better. She responded with the same phrase a couple of times but we were having trouble understanding her. She ran upstairs and returned with an angel and brought it to her doll repeating the phrase from earlier that Jesus would make her better.

And just because, a picture of Karissa right before bed tonight.
