One of those days

It was one of those wonderful days. No seriously, it was fabulous, and totally makes up for all the ones that aren't. It reminded my how thankful I am that I get to stay at home with my two wonderful girls. And, how much I appreciate the fact that my husband barbequed yesterday so I didn't have to cook dinner. Mostly we just enjoyed our day.

The girls slept in (meaning past 7) and we went to the Jump Zone after Karissa woke up from her morning nap. We were all exhausted after but I may have been the most. Trying to keep track of 2 children, while there are literally a hundred other kids running around wore me out physically and mentally (nothing a nap couldn't fix.) Despite the fact that Karissa wanted nothing to do with being held and was nearly trampled several times, it was worth it to watch Kelsie enjoy herself so much. Karissa had almost as much fun since she got to try out the cozy coupe for a little while. She was NOT happy when I took her out of it though and made sure it was well known. I'm pretty sure that the next few years are going to be some really interesting ones, particularly when she doesn't get her way but we'll stick with the happy parts now.

Kelsie decided to ride on top of the car while Karissa was in it. Seriously, this was both of their favorite things in the whole place and when I told Kelsie we were going this is what she was looking forward to the most. I think I know what I'm getting Karissa for her birthday

Since I knew it would be close to nap time when we left and I needed to run another errand I told Kelsie we could go to McDonalds for lunch if she listened and didn't throw a fit when it was time to leave. She was on her best behavior and requested that we go to "old mcdonald" for lunch and she would get a "hamburger, apples, water in a white and red cup, with a white lid, and a white straw." She's went to McDonalds (pretty much the only fast food that she can eat due to allergies) less than 10 times and maybe got to drink out of the cup twice, it's really interesting what they remember the most.

Apparently she thinks now that she is improving in her talking we need to be very descriptive. A couple days ago I asked her if she wanted to go outside and swing, her response: "You come too. I swing. You push me. I'll hold on. You push me really high, I say weee." She also likes to tell us what our response should be. She likes to race to the bathroom and also to be the first to make a "happy plate." And just in case you ever need to know the proper response from you should be a very dramatic "awww man," if not, you will be corrected.

Kelsie finally got the connection of the beginning sounds of words and spontaneously will start saying a letter sound and then all the words that she can think of that start with that letter. She has known the letters and the sounds for 6 months or so but didn't get the connection until recently. She still loves books and will look at them forever, I'm pretty sure she could spend everyday at the library. She generally doesn't say much when looking at books even when I try to get her to pretend to read but today I heard her from the other room "reading." (By the way she is saying the words to Jingle Bells, it's more clear towards the end when she has her animal crackers chewed up ;-)
